Application forms for persons aged less than 18 years must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Steps involved in Applying for Permanent Residency of Australia under Skilled Migration

Step 1. Identify an Occupation in Demand

Step 2 Score at least 65 on the Australian Points list

Try to score at least 65 points on the Australian Immigration Points score list. Points are awarded for many factors.

18-24 (inclusive) – 25

25-32 (inclusive) – 30

33-39 (inclusive) – 25

40-44 (inclusive) – 15 English Language Points Superior – 20

Proficient – 10

Skilled Employment Points

At least eight and up to 10 years (of past 10 years) – 20

Points for Education previously undertaken in Australia

Points for Credentialed Language Skills

If you can speak one of the credentialed community languages, you can qualify for 5 extra points. For this, you must be accredited with the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) at the professional level. NAATI gives accreditation when you qualify in their examination.

Points for Professional year in Australia

You can claim five points if you have completed a Professional Year in Australia in the four years before you are invited to apply. This excludes Working Holidays.

Points for skilled spouse or partner

You can add on extra 10 points once your spouse or partner secures a positive skills assessment (they also should have an occupation on demand) then add on a further 10 points.

If your spouse or partner is competent on English you can add on 5 points.

Points for STEM Qualifications

10 points are awarded for STEM Qualifications which are Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
