  • Lake Pichola

Once you visit the ‘city of lakes’, Udaipur, you would find one of the most beautiful lake of the country, Pichola. This lake was named after the neighbor village Pichola and was established in 1362. Basically, the lake has four wonderful islands, Jag Niwas, Jag Mandir, Mohan mandir and Arsi Vilas, but the Jag Niwas and Jag mandir, which is a renowned lake palace, are major attraction of tourist. This palace holds beautiful richly architectures which adds to the beauty of the Lake. One could witness the perfect canvas of colours in sky here during the time of sunset and sunrise.

  • Fateh Sagar Lake

This artificial lake is yet another popular lake of Udaipur. The lake was originally built by Maharana Jai Singh and reconstructed by Maharana Fateh Singh, after being washed away in flood. Due to its beautiful blue water and green surrounding, it has been given the name of ‘second Kashmir’. There are three prominent islands amidst the lake including Udaipur Solar Observatory and Nehru Park, which is the largest among all three; a popular picnic spot featuring an iconic fountain, zoo and a restaurant.

  • Ana Sagar Lake

The lake is the largest in terms of area in Ajmer. Ana Sagar Lake was named after Arnoraj Chauhan who originally built it and was the grandfather of Prithvi Raj Chauhan.  Spread in the area of 13 km sq. the lake hold up to 4.75 millions of cubic water. It also has an island in between it; one could take motor boat rides for a wonderful experience and to reach the island.

  • Sambhar Lake

This lake is popularly known as ‘Salt Lake of Rajasthan’, which is the largest inland salt lake in India. This lake is one of its unique kinds, spread in the area of 22.5 km. It also has a dam built on it which eventually helps in salt making. This beautiful lake has a mention in Mahabharat as demon priest Sukracharya once lived here and married Devayani. Salt laboratory and museum are some worthy places to visit here and one could get witness the real ethnicity and culture of Rajasthan around the region.

  • Jaisamand Lake

This famous lake is the second largest lake of India after the upper lake in Bhopal. The lake was constructed by the Rana Jai singh in 17th century and also built a marble dam across the Gomati River. Jaisamand Lake has 3 islands which offer the decorated beauty of the lake. The major attraction of the lake is marble dam which has six beautiful cenotaphs with immaculate carvings and a temple of Lord Shiva. One could chill in the courtyard of the palace, viewing this vast lake.
