Bulat Utemuratov: autism is no longer destiny

Intense activity of Asyl Miras Foundation in the field of treatment, education and adaptation of children suffering from ICP and diseases of the autistic range, indicates that businessman Bulat Utemuratov takes the special needs of sick children to heart.

For three years, the substantive program of the charity foundation covered 4 cities of Kazakhstan. Within its framework, about 1000 children are engaged with the best experts, developing communication skills with the outside world. The sooner the disease is detected, the greater the chances for a high level of socialization of the autistic child, but as the child grows old, the window of opportunities could close for good.

The percentage of gifted children, with outstanding analytical abilities, with a propensity for exact sciences, with a high level of concentration and attention to details among the ones with such diagnosis is very large. Their brains work like a powerful computer. In well-developed countries they have this experience of using these super-opportunities: three-quarters of the staff of the high-tech company “Specialisterne” from Denmark are people with autism. And in the army of Israel there is a special unit in the department of external intelligence, where autists serve. They save lives of soldiers, participating in the development of secret operations, analyzing and isolating details from huge arrays of aerial survey.

Bulat Utemuratov Foundation attracts leading researchers and practicing specialists in the field of genetics and psychiatry from Canada and the USA and the best doctors of Kazakhstan, uses the most innovative and practical approaches in their programs. The process itself goes in several stages:

  • detection of abnormalities;
  • diagnostics;
  • intervention at an early stage;
  • training on specially adapted programs;
  • social integration.

In parallel with this direction, the foundation conducts an extensive awareness-raising campaign among parents, which helps them understand their own child with special needs better, and establish contact with him. Advice and training in advanced scientific methods and clinical practices to the closest circle of children – doctors, educators, teachers – are provided by the foundation “Asyl Miras”. Holidays and sports are regularly arranged for autistic children and their families.

To consolidate the scientific community around the problem of autism and the exchange of experience, Asyl Miras organized the International Conference “Autism. The world is one for all”. The first event was held in October 2016. The event was attended by 220 specialists representing the University of California, Oregon University, Emory University, Emory Autism Center, Marcus Autism Center, “Autism speaks”, Nazarbayev University. The Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in open discussions.

Timely assistance by Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation allows changing the quality of life of small autists, helping them to discover a huge world and simply enjoy their life. All in all, they are just children. To help them become independent people and self-supporting members of society is the noble goal of Bulat Utemuratov.
